A sexy comic opera with hot visuals

Guilia is secretly married to Dorvil. But her lecherous guardian Dormont wants to marry her off to the rakish playboy Blansac to pay off his gambling debts. But what's this? Dorvil is Blansac's best friend? A sexy comedy of errors and mixed messages this Opera is hilarious and beautiful as we wonder: will love save the day?

The production was directed by Lara Bye and Conducted by Alexander Fokkens and featuring the sublime voices of Magdalene Minnaar, Elizabeth Frandsen, Aubrey Lodewyk, Conroy Scott, Matthew Overmeyr and Jacques Louw, while played by the Cape Town Camerata. It was designed by Leigh Bishop and Maritha Visagie, while the Multimedia design was done by Yawazzi.

Yawazzi wrote and designed the subtitles, attempting to build the text of Rossini's opera for the modern audience. We also used stunning visuals and animations to add a quirky, sexy, and fun element to this comic tale.

It was staged on Wed the 28th of Jan, and Feb 1st as part of the Suidoosterfees at the Artscape Theatre.

The graphic stuff (done by Yawazzi) was my favourite part. All the stuff that happened on the screen was great, from the heart with wings to the different fonts used for the subtitles for the singers. I don't know who wrote the script for the graphic stuff, but it was totally classic. And hilarious." -Megan Choritz of Megan's Head
