Yawazzi is working on the multimedia design of this La Rosa Spanish Dance Theatre production, which will first be performed at the KKKnK.

Here is how the play is described: Heart of Sand

'Heart of Sand' is a dance interpretation of Frederico Garica Lorca's poetry set in a contemporary South Africa, bringing Lorca's timeless and universal images to the stage through the powerful art of dance, drama and song.

The selections of poems chosen relate to man's relationship with land, a relationship that is constantly being questioned in today's Africa through debates surrounding land reform initiatives. These issues are illustrated in the form of song, dance, drama and the simple reading of Lorca's poetry.

'Heart of Sand' is the brainchild of local composer, Robert Jeffery, whose intention is to set Lorca's poetry to music. Besides music these poems are expressed through a fusion of contemporary and Flamenco dance movements choreographed by Adele Blank (Free Flight Dance Company) and Carolyn Holden (La Rosa). Accompanying the dancers is singer Nicole Holm and an array of musical instruments from Flamenco guitar to cello.
