Jon Keevy was raised amongst the apple orchards of Elgin, which he still pines for while in the city. He completed his masters at the University of Cape Town in theatremaking, with a focus on playwriting. He wrote, designed and directed a triptych of plays entitled a Mask, a Key and a Pair of Broken Wings which was staged as his thesis production at UCT in December of 2007.
Much like Sanjin, Keevy has a strange collection of skills and has tried his hand at almost every area of theatre production: writer, director, designer, performer, technician, stage-manager, fight choreographer, set dresser, prop maker, poster designer, illustrator and sweeper.
When not working on production he lives a second life as Urugi, an online artist who sketches on several websites and is working collaboratively on an online graphic novel with people he has never met in real life.
